HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Honolulu Fire Department extinguished a house fire in Aina Haina on Lawelawe Street, which first occurred around 4:40 a.m. on Aug. 28.
Ten units responded to the fire, with the first unit arriving within several minutes, HFD Capt. Dean Baldeviso said.
Upon arrival, first responders found a single-family home fully engulfed in flames, with the neighboring structure also threatened, Baldeviso said.
The main home affected by the fire collapsed, Baldeviso said. The residents were inside the building when the blaze started, but were able to safely evacuate. There were no injuries.
The fire was fully extinguished at approximately 8:48 a.m., with firefighters continuing to combat hot spots left by the blaze, HFD said.
An investigator has been dispatched to the scene to determine the cause of the fire, officials said.
