Hawaii Football falls to Arizona, Alejado leaves game injured in 2nd half

The Hawaii Football team took to Tucson, Arizona on Saturday for their Week 1 matchup against Arizona.

Hawaii (1-0) taking on Arizona (0-0) on TNT.

The Wildcats started the game off with the 1st score after a 13 yard touchdown run with 12:11 left in the 1st.

Hawaii in their 2nd drive of the game was unable to get into the endzone but Week 0 hero Kansei Matsuzawa nailed a 34-yard field goal to get the ‘Bows on the board.

In the 2nd quarter, Arizona with 12:26 left on the clock scored a 54-yard touchdown run to put Hawaii down by 11, which came after a Micah Alejado fumble the drive prior for UH.

Hawaii was able to tack on 3 more points as time expired in the 2nd quarter from a Field goal from Matsuzawa. The field goal was rushed as UH was downed inbounds and had no timeouts remaining but the field goal squad was able to get the snap off right before time expired.

In the 2nd half. Arizona scored a Touchdown on their 1st drive while Hawaii was forced to Punt after gaining -10 yards on 3 plays.

Late in the 3rd quarter as the ‘Bows trailed 31-6. Hawaii QB Micah Alejado who injured his ankle last week during their win vs Stanford, went down with an injury to that same ankle.

Alejado left the game in the 3rd and did not return to action. He was on the sidelines with his shoe off and ankle wrapped with ice.

Backup QB Luke Weaver came in and played the rest of the game at the Quarterback position for Hawaii.

The ‘Bows made it into the red zone but Weavers pass was intercepted in the red zone by Mililani alum Gavin Hunter to give Arizona that ball back.

Hawaii unable to get on the board in the 2nd half as Arizona goes on to win 40-6. UH drops to 1-1 on the season.
