Hiker rescued after 150-foot fall on Pali Trail

HONOLULU (KHON2) — On Sat., Aug. 30, at around 4:35 p.m., the Honolulu Fire Department responded to an injured hiker off the Pali Notches Trail in Kailua.

The incident occurred when a man fell 150 feet while hiking.

The first unit arrived at 4:48 p.m., where six units staffed with 18 personnel ascended the trail on foot. 

Officials say that a male hiker in his 20s was holding onto a rope that snapped, causing him to fall 150 feet. 

At 5:13 p.m., a helicopter rescued the hiker, providing basic life support before safely airlifting him back to the landing zone. 

At 5:50 p.m., the hiker was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

There were no reported injuries from HFD personnel.
