Building fire in Waikiki causes $105,000 in damages

HONOLULU (KHON2) — On Sat., Aug. 30, at around 10:54 p.m., the Honolulu Fire Department responded to a building fire in Waikiki.

The fire happened on 425 Ena Road, where the first unit arrived at 10:59 p.m. with 10 units staffed by 35 personnel.

Officials said building security reported flames on the penthouse level.

At 11:07 p.m., the fire was extinguished.

HFD said there were two people taken care of by EMS. One of the patients was transferred to a nearby hospital, and the other refused transport.

The investigation has been classified as accidental, due to unattended cooking with damage estimated at $105,000.
