In the latest episode of Hawaii Football Final, KHON2 Sports Director Rob DeMello and analyst Rich Miano broke down the University of Hawai‘i football team’s homecoming victory over Portland State, a win that moved the Rainbow Warriors to 3-1 on the season.
The Hawaii Sports 2Night production, which airs every Sunday at 7 p.m. on the KHON+ app and rebroadcasts Tuesday nights at 9:30 p.m. on KHON2, featured in-depth analysis from Miano, a former UH player and coach who spent 11 years in the NFL.
Junior quarterback Luke Weaver once again filled in for the injured Micah Alejado, guiding the Warriors’ offense for a second straight week. Weaver totaled 270 yards and threw two touchdown passes to running back Cam Barfield, helping Hawai‘i overcome 138 yards in penalties while avoiding turnovers.
Kicker Kansei Matsuzawa continued his perfect start to the season, connecting on all three of his field-goal attempts from 35 yards or longer. On defense, Elijah Palmer anchored the unit with seven tackles and an interception as UH held Portland State out of the end zone in a 23-3 victory at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex.
With nonconference play behind them, the Warriors now shift their focus to the Mountain West schedule, entering league play with momentum and confidence after their third win in four games.
