Grand Jury indicts teens in violent Nānākuli incident

HONOLULU (KHON2) – An indictment has been placed on the two male suspects from the Nānākuli shooting that took place on Sept. 6.

Two 19-year-old men have been charged in the Sept. 6 shooting at Zablan Beach Park in Nānākuli that left a 17-year-old boy brain-dead.

An Oʻahu grand jury indicted Chystyn Williams-Aipolani and Kaison Kaholo for attempted murder.

Police say people in two different cars started shooting at each other early that morning, then drove away.

Williams-Aipolani is also facing charges for robbery and for having a gun during a crime.

Kaholo is charged with gun crimes as well, while both are being held at Oʻahu Community Correctional Center without bail.

At first, police said that Williams-Aipolani was a victim because he showed up at a hospital with gunshot wounds.

After further investigation, officers arrested him on Sept. 11 for attempted murder and gun charges. At the same time, Kaholo was indicted the day before.

If convicted, attempted murder can mean life in prison with the chance of parole.

Robbery and using a gun during a felony can each bring up to 20 years, and other gun charges can mean up to 10 years.

The case is still under investigation, and police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
