Board of Water Supply gives Halawa Shaft closure update, asks Oahu to conserve water

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Board of Water Supply is urging Oahu residents to conserve water. Due to lower-than-average rainfall, there has been an increase in water use across the island.

To help conserve water, BWS shares some tips and tricks for residents to practice smart water use.

You can make simple changes like taking shorter showers, turning off the water when you’re brushing your teeth and washing full loads in the dishwasher or washing machine. It’s also recommended to fix leaks right away or install low-flow fixtures.

When it comes to watering your plants, try to do so in the morning or evenings. Also, avoid watering them every single day.
