HONOLULU (KHON2) — A 44-year-old man was arrested for Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, among other crimes, in Waikīkī on the morning of Sept. 25, the Honolulu Police Department said.
Police received a complaint from the man on Ena Road and upon arrival, officials identified him as a wanted suspect in relation to numerous unrelated crimes, authorities said.
HPD said that when officers tried to inform him that he was under arrest, he attempted to flee.
HPD officers then used force in an attempt to detain him, but in the midst of the altercation, police said that the suspect bit an officer on the forearm, which caused an open laceration.
The officer brought himself to the hospital in good condition, where he was treated, police said.
The suspect was arrested for Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest and eight counts of Misuse of 911, HPD said. He was also treated at the scene for exposure to oleoresin capsicum spray, which officers use as a tool.
