VOLCANO, Hawaii (KHON2) — Pele was active, showing off in a dazzling overnight display at Kīlauea volcano during the early morning hours of Oct. 1.
This marked episode 34 of the ongoing eruption that originally began back in December 2024.
According to the USGS, the episode began with relatively small flows, eventually working its way up to 330-foot fountains.
For the past several days, the volcano has been bubbling and signaling to experts that another episode was imminent. After about two days of symptoms, the episode finally came to fruition at 12:53 a.m.
The episode abruptly ended several hours later at 7:03 a.m.
