Get ready to say ‘Aloha to Aloha Stadium’

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Everyone is invited to celebrate and gather at one of O’ahu’s iconic landmarks, the Aloha Stadium, one last time.

The “Aloha to Aloha Stadium” event on Oct. 25 will honor nearly five decades of the stadium’s memories, music and more.

“‘Aloha to Aloha Stadium’ gives our community one final chance to honor all the memories we’ve made here throughout the past 50 years,” said Stanford Carr, president of Stanford Carr Development and one of Aloha Hālawa District Partners’ lead developers for the New Aloha Stadium Entertainment District (NASED). “Together we can say ‘aloha’ and bless the site with our best wishes for its exciting role in our future as Hawaiʻi’s landmark venue for sports and entertainment.”

The evening will feature performances by Henry Kapono & Friends, Ekolu, Kanaka Fyah, The Mākaha Sons, Ho’onu’a and Hawaiian Style Band.

Aloha Stadium’s legacy will continue to live on. From iconic sports events like University of Hawai’i football games, high school championships and the NFL Pro Bowl to legendary concerts by artists like Michael Jackson, U2, and Bruno Mars, it’s created many cherished memories.

Redevelopment plans are underway for the beloved landmark, but it will continue to serve the community as a gathering place for sports, entertainment, culture and retail.

“As we bid aloha to the stadium that shaped so many of our memories, we also welcome an era of renewal. Celebrating Hawai‘i’s Culture. Building Hawai‘i’s Future. NASED will honor the past while creating a place for Hawaiʻi’s future — one built on community, culture, and shared experience,” said Eric Fujimoto, Stadium Authority Chair.
