Pāhoa High students paint ‘Drive With Aloha’ mural to promote safe driving

PĀHOA, Hawai‘i (KHON2) – Students and community members at Pāhoa High School spent the weekend painting a massive “Drive With Aloha” mural to promote safe and sober driving.

The mural is part of a statewide campaign led by the Keep It Flowing Mural Company and the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation.

With this project, the team has now completed its 16th mural across the islands, reaching its statewide goal for the year.

Pāhoa High School is the first school in the Puna District to receive a mural for the new fiscal year.

The painting, which stretches more than 100 feet in length, was completed during a community mural day where students, families, and volunteers came together to bring the design to life.

The “Drive With Aloha” program focuses on more than just art. It encourages students to make healthy choices, practice safe driving habits, and understand how their decisions can help keep roads safer for everyone.

Founded by Ken Nishimura, the “Drive With Aloha” campaign continues to receive recognition from leaders across the state, including proclamations from the governor and all four county mayors.

Each mural serves as a reminder that promoting safety and aloha on the road can start with one small act or decision.
