KAUAI, Hawaii (KHON2) — A California man is dead after he was pulled from the waters off ʻAnini Beach Park in Kauaʻi.
According to the Kauaʻi Police Department, officials responded to the beach park on Oct. 6 at around 3 p.m. following reports of a distressed swimmer.
The man had apparently experienced trouble in the water, where first responders were able to assist him to shore, where he then collapsed.
Ocean Safety lifeguards began lifesaving measures before the man was eventually transported to Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital, where he would later be pronounced dead.
The man was identified as 61-year-old Todd Wild. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death, though authorities do not suspect foul play.
