Hawaii P-20 offers local families college planning workshops

HONOLULU (KHON2) – Hawaii P-20 Partnerships for Education, a statewide partnership led by the Executive Office on Early Learning, the Hawaii State Department of Education and the University of Hawaii System, is offering free workshops for local families to help them plan their education after high school graduation.

These workshops focus on how to get scholarships to attend a two or four-year college and help with the process of filling out the free Federal Student Aid or FAFSA application.

The in-person workshops will be held starting Oct. 14 on Hawaiʻi Island, Kauaʻi, Lānaʻi, Maui, Molokaʻi and Oʻahu.

Each event will include dinner and a chance to win a $500 scholarship, allowing families to meet financial aid experts and learn about programs that support Native Hawaiian students.

Online sessions will be held on Nov. 6 and Nov. 20 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., where attendees will hear from local scholarship organizations and the University of Hawaiʻi system about how to pay for college.

Free online FAFSA workshops will run weekly on Wednesdays, from Nov. 5 to Mar. 11, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., where students can get live, step-by-step help filling out their FAFSA forms.

Registration for all events is available at CollegesWithinReachHawaii and for more information, families can email FAFSA@hawaii.edu.
