Diamond Bakery celebrates 104th anniversary

HONOLULU (KHON2) — After over a century serving the people of Hawaii, Diamond Bakery celebrated its success with the community.

On Friday, Oct. 10, Diamond Bakery celebrated its 104th anniversary, with employees and customers flocking to the Kalihi factory for complimentary treats, special giveaways, vendor sampling and the unveiling of new influencer packaging collaborations.

Joe Wadahara, known better as Firefighter Joe on his social media account @onfirehawaii, was featured on Diamond Bakery’s Soda Cracker box, available statewide.

“Joe has been an authentic supporter of Diamond Bakery long before any collaboration,” said Galdeira. “He shared his love for our crackers in his firehouse chili recipe, and that’s how this idea began. His positive spirit and his connection to our community make him a perfect fit.”

CJ from Hilo will share his Aloha Chex Mix holiday recipe on packaging featuring a scannable QR code.

“When CJ sent us samples of his Aloha Chex Mix using our crackers, we loved it so much that we knew we wanted to highlight him,” Galdeira added. “It’s perfect for the holidays, when families across Hawaiʻi are sharing snacks and traditions.”

Guests enjoyed free hot dogs, drinks, cupcakes and Diamond Bakery’s famous Hawaiian Soda Crackers.

“We are so happy, we are so thrilled with the turnout we had today, it’s our 104th birthday, well, Diamond Bakery’s, and it’s really our way to give back to the community that supports us,” said Jackie Murai-Pedersen, a Diamond Bakery employee.

“There are very few companies in Hawaiʻi that can say they’re over 100 years old, and we’re proud to be part of that exclusive club,” states President Butch Galdeira on the milestone that is both a celebration and a way to give back. “This anniversary is about thanking the community that has supported us for more than a century with free treats, fun activities, and collaborations that reflect the local spirit.”

The Diamond Bakery Factory Shop is open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
