HILO, Hawaiʻi (KHON2) – The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Parks and Recreation and Friends of the Panaʻewa Zoo are teaming up again for the third annual “Boo at the Zoo”.
This event is happening from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, and Sunday, Oct. 26.
It is a free two-day event that will turn the zoo into a fun Halloween destination for families, with treats, animal encounters, food vendors, and a keiki costume contest.
“Boo at the Zoo is a great way for families to enjoy Halloween in a safe and exciting environment,” said Mayor C. Kimo Alameda, Ph.D. “We are proud to partner with Friends of the Panaʻewa Zoo and invite everyone to come out and enjoy the festivities.”
Event Details
- Admission: Free
- Trick-or-Treat Bags: FOZ will sell bags for $1 cash (required to receive treats). Proceeds will help support the zoo.
- Costume Contest: 4:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday
- Zoo Closure for Set-Up: Gates close to regular visitors at 2 p.m. on event days
- Petting Zoo: Closed on Oct. 25
- Parking: Available at the zoo and Panaʻewa Equestrian Center lots
