HONOLULU (KHON2) — When Taylor Kim found out the Jonas Brothers would be performing on her birthday, she said it felt “like fate.”
In a TikTok video with over 2 million views, the Honolulu resident gave Joe Jonas a lei during the Jonas Brothers’ “Greetings from Your Hometown” concert on Oct. 19.
“Taylor has been the biggest Jonas Brothers fan since we were kids, so we could not have imagined a better way to celebrate her 30th birthday than this!” said Kristen Carson, Taylor’s childhood best friend who made the trip with her.
Together, they scored two front-row tickets to the Jonas Brothers’ concert in Houston, Texas during the fan presale, Kim said.
It genuinely felt like they were singing right to us.

The bright yellow sign she carried into the concert read: “Greetings from Hawaii, wanna get lei’d?”

It seemed one of the Jonas brothers did, as Joe stepped off stage and stopped to sing face-to-face with Kim.
She gave him a lei, and they sang the song “Backwards” together.
Carson also had a sign — one that highlighted Kim’s birthday girl status — and he made sure to wish her a happy birthday.
“I’ve loved them since I was thirteen, so this felt like a real-life 13 Going on 30 moment,” said Kim. “It’s so wild to be singing those same songs all these years later and at the top of my lungs… it’s pure joy.”
The soundtrack of her teens included “Year 3000,” “Burnin’ Up,” and “When You Look Me in the Eyes,” she shared.
“It’s one thing to see them perform live, but being that close and seeing every smile was absolutely electric. It genuinely felt like they were singing right to us,” Kim said. “They’re incredible performers, and even though this was my seventh Jonas Brothers concert, it was by far my favorite.”
What made it even more special were the friends sharing the experience with her. The group of 11 traveled from Hawaii, California and New York to meet in Texas for the concert.
“It was one of those full-circle moments, surrounded by my best friends from kindergarten through college, singing the same songs we loved as teenagers, now as adults. No matter how much time passes, the memories and the music are still magic,” Kim said.
She felt fortunate to be able to share a part of her home with the band.
“It was also so special to share a piece of home, Hawai‘i, with the Jonas Brothers during their ‘Greetings from Your Hometown’ tour,” she said. “I feel so incredibly blessed.”
