Man, 42, dead in Oʻahu’s 70th traffic fatality

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A 42-year-old man is dead following a fatal single-vehicle accident on Nimitz Highway during the early morning hours of Oct. 27.

The accident occurred at approximately 3:38 a.m. when the man was driving down Nimitz Highway at a high rate of speed, the Honolulu Police Department said.

While driving, the man hit a concrete support pillar near the Valkenberg Street intersection, police said.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to the crash site and pronounced him dead at the scene, officials said. The man was wearing a seatbelt during the collision.

This marks the 70th traffic fatality on Oʻahu this year, compared to 38 at the same time in 2024.
