Maui County Councilmember Natalie ‘Tasha’ Kama dead: Kama ʻohana

MAUI, Hawaii (KHON2) — Maui County Councilmember Natalie “Tasha” Kama died on Oct. 26, Kama’s family confirmed.

She died at 9:25 p.m. surrounded by loved ones, the Kama ʻohana said.

“She dedicated her life to her family and community with love and compassion,” the family statement said.

Kama served as the presiding officer pro tempore of the Maui County Council as well as the chair of the Housing and Lang Use Committee. She represented the Kahului area.

The Maui Police Department expressed their condolences to the Kama ʻohana.

“Councilmember Kama will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to the people of Maui County and her years of selfless public service,” MPD Chief John Pelletier said. “Her leadership, compassion and deep commitment to her constituents were evident in all her endeavors.”

A memorial service in honor of Kama will be announced at a later date.
