Honolulu firefighters contain late-night blaze in Aliamanu

ALIAMANU (KHON2) – On Nov. 1, at around 9:17 p.m., the Honolulu Fire Department responded to a building fire at a residence on Salt Lake Boulevard.

The first unit of responders, 10 units staffed with 38 personnel, arrived on-scene just after 9:20 p.m. to a fire in a one-story residence.

Firefighters used a water supply and the offensive fire attack mechanism to extinguish the fire, which was brought under control at 9:43 p.m. and fully extinguished at 10:04 p.m. The American Red Cross assisted those who were displaced by the fire.

An investigation has been initiated and remains ongoing as the origin and cause of the fire are yet to be determined.

HFD said that smoke alarms are essential to detect a fire in every building and working smoke alarms can save lives, allowing one to escape in time.
