HONOLULU (KHON2) – City crews are starting sewer connection work next week for the new Honolulu Ocean Safety Department facility in Kailua.
Construction begins Monday, Nov. 3, and is expected to last about two to three weeks. Work will happen at night from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. between Alala Road and Mokulua Drive, with some lane closures during the project.
Once the sewer line work is complete, construction on the new Ocean Safety base station will continue during the day from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing a central hub for operations in Windward Oʻahu.
The new facility will include offices, storage areas, garages for rescue vehicles, and upgraded safety features, with completion expected in September 2026.
