Free plumeria: UH hosts field day in Waimānalo, over 300 plumeria trees

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Everyone is invited to learn all about plumeria — the flower that ranges in hue, from pink to yellow and white — at the CARES Center in Waimānalo, which has over 300 plumeria trees, on Nov. 12.

The University of Hawaii’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience will provide hands-on training from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in caring for plumeria trees, root cuttings for participants to grow their own and even cuttings to take home for their garden.

After the event, a potluck lunch and talk story will follow.

The event will run rain or shine. Parking is limited so UH encourages ridesharing.

Register through their Google Form to participate. All participants must sign a UH liability waiver.

Recommended items

UH recommends participants wear protective equipment, including gloves, eye wear, closed shoes, long pants and a hat.
