Six animals pulled from Waimanalo house fire

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Six animals were retrieved from a Waimanalo home after flames broke out on Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 10:30 a.m. to find a small, single-story home emitting smoke and flames.


Firefighters investigate cause of two-story Dillingham building fire

According to the Honolulu Fire Department, an “aggressive fire attack” was conducted and multiple searches of the home confirmed no occupants were inside the structure.

While no occupants were found, the HFD recovered four dogs, one tortoise and one guinea pig from the house. Unfortunately, one dog and the guinea pig did not make it.

The fire was brought under control at 10:55 a.m. and fully extinguished at 11:26 a.m.

An investigation is underway to determine how the fire was started and to provide estimates for the damage.

The HFD dispatched nine units with 34 personnel to the scene. All were accounted for with no injuries reported.
