Derek Kauanoe, Assistant Professor at the William S. Richardson School of Law joins producer/host Coralie Chun Matayoshi to discuss recent lawsuits that are challenging certain programs as race-based discrimination including a prior challenge to Kamehameha Schools’ admissions policy, Native Hawaiian Health Scholarship lawsuit, challenges to Department of Hawaiian Homelands federal funding, and whether the Kamehameha Schools admissions policy and support for other Native Hawaiian programs will survive given the historical relationship of Native Hawaiians to the United States government.
