Hawaii’s Taiana Tolleson signs with Lexington Sporting Club in USL Super League

Hawaii’s Taiana Tolleson has officially signed with the Lexington Sporting Club in the USL Super League, in the leagues inaugural season.

Tolleson, a Big Island native grew up playing soccer for Konawaena and then went to play at Vanderbilt in college.

With Tolleson signing with Lexington SC, she has become the first Big Island native to sign with a U.S. Women’s Pro Soccer Team.

“I’m so grateful to everyone that’s been part of my journey. It means so much to know that the time and effort that they have poured into me could result into something as amazing as this,” said Tolleson.

The journey to this point wasn’t simple for the goalie, as she stepped away from the sport after 4 years into college.

But just recently, finding that spark that she had growing up. After a few seasons of Semi-Pro Soccer, Tolleson looked to get back at the higher levels, and the opportunity to play for Lexington SC was the chance she was hoping for.

And now while she gets prepared for her Pro Debut, she hopes to be an inspiration to the younger generations in Hawaii.

“Reaching a goal that I’ve had since I was seven years old and literally just being able to inspire not just my siblings, but hopefully kids from the entire state just means the world and I’m excited. Representation matters and I’m just blessed that, you know, some of the Big Island kids, get to kind of see that, you know, you can still do it,” said Tolleson.

Tolleson and her club will get their regular season underway on August 25th.
