MHS revealed that Mele had a difficult start to life after her family gave her up because their landlord told them they had too many dogs.

She also spent time in a foster home before moving back to the shelter.

According to her foster family, Mele loves to give cuddles, kisses and loves to be present with both keiki and kupuna.

“Mele is very loving. She is very smart and wants to please you,” said the former foster family in a statement.

She loves to go on walks and must carry a leaf every time she goes outside.

“She knows to sit and leave it, she is crate-trained, prefers stuffed animals and just wants to be loved,” the family added.
