West Oahu drivers should prep for overnight work on Farrington Hwy

HONOLULU (KHON2) — West Oahu late-night drivers should prepare for delays from Honokai Hale to Waianae due to overnight work scheduled by Hawaiian Electric.

The work will take place from July 22 to July 27 between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. to replace 11 utility poles and other equipment in the area.


Nanakuli high schoolers get jumpstart into workforce

According to HECO, the far-right Makaha-bound lane and mauka sidewalk of Farrington Hwy will require a partial closure.

The following areas will be closed starting at 9 p.m.:

July 22

Honokai Hale between Laaloa and Waiomea streets

Waianae near 7-Eleven

July 23

Fronting Nānākuli Village Center

Between Haleakala Avenue and Helelua Street

July 24

Near the Koʻolina exit from Farrington Hwy

Past the Waimānalo Gulch Landfill

July 25

Past the Kahe Power Plant

July 26

Between Maʻaloa Street and Auyong Homestead Road

Past Princess Kahanu Avenue

Between Lualei Place and Hakimo Road

Officials said an electronic message board will be available to post closures for drivers. Safety signs and traffic cones will also be available to help direct drivers away from work areas.
