Emme Tomimbang Burns passed away at the age of 73-year-old.

A mass service was held on Friday at the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace and was followed by inurnment at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific where she was laid to rest with her husband, the late Hawaii State Intermediate Court of Appeals Chief Justice James S. Burns.

The celebration is at the Filipino Community Center where she was a Founding Member of the Board of Directors.

“This one evening promises to be the largest and most historic gathering of print, radio and television types alone, much less her friends in the Judiciary, the Medical School, the Law School, politics and history, with  videos, remarks, and performances from featured speakers who were close to Emme, who supported her professional growth, and loved her as we all did,” said program organizer Lynne Waters, a friend and co-worker of Emme’s for over 40 years. “We encourage people to carpool on Saturday as much as possible. Parking is limited, but professional staff will direct all guests to adjacent open-air surface lots and a shuttle service will transport guests back and forth throughout the evening.”
