Honolulu PD: Safety tips for pedestrians, drivers for new school season

HONOLULU (KHON2) — As school season begins, police are urging everyone to help prevent accidents.

With 20 pedestrian deaths as of July this year, both pedestrian and drivers must stay vigilant.

Here are some safety tips from Honolulu Police Department:

Walking Tips

Walk with a group and always look both ways before crossing the street.

Use crosswalks and adhere to traffic signals.

Avoid interaction with strangers and unknown vehicles.

Driving Tips

Allow extra time for potential traffic delays.

Watch for pedestrians, especially near schools.

Refrain from using mobile devices while driving.
