HONOLULU (KHON2) — It’s been nearly two months since Frances Tapiz-Andrian last saw her daughter, 19-year-old Mischa Johnson.
She said on July 11, she went to Costco Kapolei with her daughter and son-in-law, 28-year-old Dewayne Johnson.
She said she spoke to Mischa on the phone in the early-afternoon hours on July 12, and Mischa was supposed to come to her house around 3 p.m., but never showed up.
That’s the same day Mischa reportedly told Dewayne’s mother about his infidelity.
From that point on, Tapiz-Andrian said the only communication with her daughter was via text.
“The tone of the messages, and things changed after the 12th,” she told KHON2.
Mischa lived on Schofield Barracks with her husband, Army private first-class Dewayne Arthur Johnson, who is assigned to the 25th infantry division.
Johnson reported his wife missing on Aug. 1, 2024.
In late August, Johnson was charged by the U.S. Army Counsel for providing false statements, obstruction of justice, and the production and distribution of child pornography related to her disappearance.
“I truly believe someone knows something either about Mischa or about Dewayne,” Tapiz-Andrian added.
She said she is frustrated with the lack of information regarding the case, but she hopes private searches, leads and tips can help lead to her daughter’s body.
“At least I can do one thing in my life, and that would be to bury my daughter and give her a proper burial and show her how much I care and love her as a mom,” she said crying. “And I can tell her I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, I couldn’t protect you.”
One lead has come from multiple reports of seeing a red Mustang parked on the side of Kamehameha Highway, about two miles north of Schofield Barracks, and just south of Dole Plantation, near Poamoho stream bridge. The sightings were between July 14 and July 19.
Mischa’s mom said that could be a huge lead because there is no timeline from what Dewayne was doing between those dates. “So, if the car was there, he might have disposed the body there or did something there,” she said.
She said his car is a 2019 red Mustang with a Hawaii National Park license plate.
“We already know that Dewayne invited a female to his home on the 15th and already had relations with her on the 15th,” she added.
“That is big of her,” she said of the young woman. “For being an underage female, I have to give her credit, her bravery speaks. She heard my plea and she came out after that.”
Now she is asking others to do the same.
“Come out, come out please, do it anonymously, give as much details as you can, call the number,” she pleaded to the public about reporting any information regarding her disappearance.
“I understand [the mindset of] it’s not my business, but it is our business,” she added. “As a community, we have to keep Hawaii safe, for not only ourselves but those around us.”
She is upset to hear another person was killed on base on Oahu just last week.
“Domestic violence is prevalent on military bases whether it’s in the community or on military base, but there is no presence whatsoever of any services for women,” she said. “These women, spouses, partners who suffer from domestic violence rely on themselves and they don’t know where to turn to for help which is unfortunate.”
There is a 10-thousand dollar reward for any information regarding Mischa’s disappearance.
