HNA files injunction to stop ‘morally indefensible’ lockout

“It’s morally indefensible for Kapi‘olani to lock out the nurses who care for our keiki and community until nurses give in to their contract demands…Kapi‘olani’s decision to lock out local nurses is about intimidating and terrorizing the hard-working nurses,” HNA President Rose Agas-Yuu said in a news release.

The Hawai‘i Nurses’ Association/OPEIU Local 50 filed an injunction Friday to stop Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children from locking out HNA nurses after union agreed to strike.

The lockout was an ultimatum that Kapi’olani administration gave to get the nurses to sign the the proposed contract.

The hospital said HNA nurses would be locked out after their planned strike on Friday, Sept. 13.
