HONOLULU (KHON) – Higher education can help people explore what they love, get better at it, and make a real difference in the world.
But for many, it’s tough to afford.
Recognizing this challenge, Hawaii-based architectural firm WCIT Architecture is supporting the next generation of creatives through their Chun Takaki Scholarship program.
Founded in 2000, WCIT Architecture’s expertise spans across various domains, including architecture, interior design, and master planning, with a particular focus on highlighting the unique essence of Hawaii in their projects.
But their contributions extend beyond designing structures.
The Chun Takaki scholarship aims to support students pursuing higher education in the allied arts, including architecture, graphic arts, photography, and more.
“We call it two parts magic, one part logic,” Mark Higa explains, emphasizing the blend of creativity and technical proficiency required in the field of architecture.
The scholarship program, now in its 18th year, is open to graduating seniors from Hawaii’s public schools, providing them with an opportunity to pursue their passions and unlock their full potential.
“Our latest scholarship winner is interested in animation,” said Senior Vice President Daniel Kanekuni, highlighting the scholarships inclusivity towards different creative pursuits.
The deadline to apply is May 31.
