MOLOKAI, Hawaii (KHON2) — The Maui Fire Department is battling a large brushfire on Molokai, near the airport, as MPD alerted residents of the fire.
MPD said there are no mandatory evacuations at this time.
The fire was reported at 10:30 a.m. around Naiwa Street.
Multiple fire units are at the scene with Air 1 and Air 2, Airport Fire and Public Works also assisting.
The airport road is closed.
Winds are 16 mph from the east.
MFD does not have an estimate of the size at this time.
