HONOLULU (KHON2) — Hawaiian Airlines passengers now have access to free high-speed, low-latency WiFi on all airbus-operated flights.
The airline is the “first major U.S. carrier to debut Starlink” on its Airbus A321neo aircraft. Now, the installation has been completed on its 24 A330 fleet.
The new Wi-Fi will be accessible for interisland, continental U.S., Asia and Oceania flights. Officials said guests will be able to experience internet speeds for working, streaming video and gaming.
Becoming the first major airline to offer travelers Starlink at no cost is a remarkable achievement for our team, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the overwhelmingly positive response from guests who have been enjoying our industry-leading connectivity onboard.
Evan Nomura, Hawaiian Airlines Director of In-Flight Entertainment, Connectivity & Onboard Products
According to the airline, “Starlink has delivered an outstanding performance without service interruptions even while traversing the farthest reaches of the Pacific Ocean.”
Through its utilization of a revolutionary laser mesh network, Hawaiian is able to provide reliable, high-speed Internet to its network for passengers to enjoy.
Up next, Starlink will be installed on the Boeing 787-9 fleet but does not plan to install on the Boeing 717 aircraft due to interisland flight duration.
