Now, two more of Hawaiʻi’s favorite brunch spots have been ranked on one of Yelp’s top 100 lists.

Over Easy located in Kailua on Oʻahu has landed in the coveted number seven spot. So, let’s take a look at why Yelp ranked Over Easy so high on their list.

Yelp designates this spot as a “super chill” place where you can go with family, including your believed pets, to enjoy both indoor and outdoor seating.

Over Easy is generous with their portions, and their best seller, Kalua Pig Hash, is highlighted for its use of local favorites like Okinawan sweet potatoes.

According to Yelp, their reviewers especially love Crispy Edge Pancakes, with “pillowy-soft, buttery batter,” and Custard French Toast, also with crispy edges and “warm, fluffy custard” inside.

Of course there is lighter fare at Over Easy, which is what makes it diverse thus landing it on Yelp’s top 100.

Yelp provided this essential information for when you go to enjoy this local favorite.

Most popular/most photographed dishes: Kalua Pig Hash, Potato N’ Eggs, Fried Egg Sandwich, and Custard French Toast.

Mother’s Day tip: Waits can reach 50 minutes during peak weekend hours of 9–11 am at this no-reservations cafe. Jennifer advises guests to call ahead and add their names to the restaurant’s waitlist if they’ll arrive within a half hour. Parties aren’t seated until everyone arrives.

Yelpers say: “We got the Fried Egg Sandwich with Kalua Pork, the Kalua Pig Hash, and the Crispy Eggplant Sandwich. All our dishes were divine. Kalua Pig Hash bowl is huuuuuge and filled to the brim with tender kalua pork. The Fried Egg Sandwich comes with 2 eggs, kalua pork, cheddar, caramelized onions, and spicy aioli—sandwiched between the same toasty sourdough and alongside crispy potatoes. Simple yet delicious!” —Yelp Elite Matthew S.

Next up is Sweet E’s Cafe, which landed at number 19.

Located on Kapahulu Avenue in Honolulu, Sweet E’s Cafe is described as ” casual-chic eatery that serves breakfast and lunch daily.”

The restaurant was named in honor of its owner Ethel Mathews. It’s a family-owned and operated restaurant that “reflects Ethel’s love of speaking to people through their stomachs”.

According to the restaurant’s legend, cooking has always been Ethel Mathews’s, and this passion is what led her on a mission “to create a place that provided exceptional service serving delicious food in a welcoming and homey environment”.

Hence, she strives to maintain that experience for every person who comes to dine.

Sweet E’s Cafe opened in 2011 and has won awards from Honolulu Magazine, Hale Aina awards, Honolulu Advertisers Ilima awards and Hawaiʻi’s Best for “Best Breakfast”. Ethel’s even been on the cover of Hawaiʻi Business Magazine and a commercial for First Hawaiian Bank.
