The Hawaii State Department of Education released its second report, revealing more feedback regarding the location and design of a permanent campus for the historic school.

In May 2024, the State presented three potential sites for the school’s permanent location. As of now, the temporary location of King Kamehameha III Elementary School is at Pulelehua near Kapalua Airport.

Recent survey results revealed that 51% of participants prefer the proposed site in Kuia, Lahaina. At this location, Kamehameha Schools offered up to 16 acres of land.

On the other hand, 45% of survey participants said they prefer the proposed site in Pulelehua.

The survey said that traffic, emergency access, ability to expand and location convenience are among the top reasons for people’s choices.
