Just after 7 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, Honolulu first responders were sent to the scene near the Nimitz Highway off-ramp.

Officials said five cars were involved in the crash.

The crash caused a full closure of the Middle Street merge and Dillingham exit. Drivers were asked to avoid the area.

Nearly an hour later, the lanes reopened; however, morning commuters heading into town would still see heavy impacts to their drive times.

This is a developing story. KHON2 will update as more information is provided.
