HONOLULU (KHON2) — The effects of Hone are still being felt on the Big Island.
Hone stranded travelers in and out of Hilo over the weekend as Hawaiian and Southwest Airlines canceled flights to and from the city.
Hilo’s airport was bustling Monday morning as travelers tried once again to get on a flight.
Hawaiian Airlines said they were adding additional flights to accommodate travelers Monday.
Meanwhile, some road closures are still affecting the Big Island.
As of 7 a.m., the DOT said Bayfront Highway between Waianuenue and Pauahi remains closed.
Mamalahoa Highway from MP 56.5 to 62.5 Punaluu Junction to Naalehu police station also remains closed.
