Saint Louis graduate and reigning Gatorade Hawaii State Player of the Year Bruin Agbayani was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the sixth round of the Major League Baseball Draft on Monday.
Agbayani, who signed to play collegiately at Michigan, was taken with the 179th overall pick on the second and final day of the draft.
The son of former MLB veteran Benny Agbayani, who played with the Mets, Red Sox and Rockies, Bruin hit .365 with 15 RBIs and 22 runs scored this past season, helping lead the Crusaders to a state championship. Benny also served as Saint Louis’ head coach this year.
