New Zealand’s Aidan Nicholas won the Molokai 2 Oahu foil race on Sunday, crossing the finish line at Kaimana Beach Park with a time of 1:49.05.
Finishing in second and third in the field of 127 were a pair of local racers in Bobo Gallagher and Justin Simmer.

Gallagher finished 13 minutes and 31 seconds behind Nicholas, while Simmer crossed the finish line 35 seconds after Gallagher.
“I’ve definitely been training a lot and being smaller, you have to work a lot harder because your muscles aren’t as developed,” the 15-year-old Gallagher said. “It definitely feels really good to be able to hang with the best and yeah, it’s super awesome.”
