HONOLULU (KHON2) — A new inter-island air ambulance service started on Sep. 1, enhancing critical transfer services across the islands.
Optimum Air will begin operating its Oahu-based Pilatus PC-12 air ambulance in Hawaii. This service also includes remote access to Molokai and Lanai.
The aircraft will be equipped with:
- FAA-approved aeromedical stretcher and patient loading system.
- Large cargo door for rapid loading of patients and crew.
- Medical equipment and monitoring systems.
- Two-pilot crews and experienced clinical staff for every mission.
The new service is designed to complement the existing transport infrastructure in an effort to streamline transfers and provide hospitals with rapid and reliable access to critical care.

The Pilatus PC-12 offers a pressurized cabin that fits a stretched, advanced life support equipment and supplies, and up to four medical personnel.
