Attention drivers! Night work to begin on Kapiʻolani Boulevard

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction is set to begin construction work on Kapiʻolani Boulevard beginning on Aug. 4.

The construction will take place during the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 4 a.m. Monday through Thursday, on the boulevard from Harding Avenue to Atkinson Drive.

Work on the boulevard is part of the Kapiʻolani Boulevard street rehabilitation project, designed to better the roadway. Aug. 4’s construction marks the final phase of the project, which was originally delayed due to a gas line relocation.

Road Builders Corporation, the contractor on the project, is responsible for coordinating and managing the road’s traffic for business and residents, as the construction will come with lane closures.

Any vehicles parked in segments of the boulevard that are to be worked on will be towed at the owner’s expense.

During construction, expect delays and extra travel time. The road work is expected to conclude in November.
