HONOLULU (KHON2) — A local father and son duo made a big catch on Sunday, Sept. 21.
Michael “Marlin Man” Kiyama and Kakela Lee from Nanakuli reeled in a 650-pound marlin after a one-and-a-half-hour fight off the coast of Waianae.


The family’s love for fishing has been passed down through generations. Kiyama began fishing with his dad at the age of 12 and continued to fish for 61 years.

This is his largest catch to date, with his previous record at 580 pounds, which he caught with his dad more than 40 years ago.
