Big Isle ranch to host Fourth of July rodeo

HAWAII, Hawaii (KHON2) — Parker Ranch will be organizing their 61st Annual July 4 Rodeo and Race Horses, which takes place at the Parker Ranch Rodeo Arena in Waimea.

The tradition displays the time-honored skills of paniolos through crowd-pleasing competitions like horse races, ranch mugging, roping and more.

“It’s a day of camaraderie, culture and good old-fashioned paniolo pride,” the ranch said.

Two jumbo screens will be set up at the arena for the first time, allowing fans to feel closer to the action with live coverage, interviews and more. The screens were made possible through support from the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement.

Doors open at 7:30 a.m., where guests can enjoy local food and craft vendors, with petting zoos and pony rides for the keiki.
