HONOLULU (KHON2) — After 20 years as Hawaii’s only Buca di Beppo location, the family-style Italian restaurant is closing it’s doors for good.
KHON2 visited the popular spot at Ward Village and to no surprise — it was packed. The general manager said it’s been so since they made the announcement.
Buca di Beppo on its last day of business at Ward Village in Kakaako, Hawaii on Friday, May 10, 2024.
“Everybody of course loves us in the islands so they definitely wanted to get here before the doors closed officially,” said Buca di Beppo General Manager Alexander Montes.
Montes worked for the restaurant chain for 12 years and while this was his first year at the Kakaako location he says it’s been phenomenal.
“Honestly just like days like today. Just the busyness everybody’s in a grind type of move. Everybody is moving and grooving. The kitchen’s pushing food out. We’re talking to guests. People are happy I mean just like days like today,” Montes said as he recalled his fondest moments at the restaurant.
“Singing birthdays. Specifically making entire rooms sing a birthday to one guest like they’re an Italian opera singers waving towels and everything so that’s a very fond memory.”

As for what will take over the restaurant’s space, Ward Village says it is working to find a new tenant.
