HONOLULU (KHON2) — One of the planet’s most treacherous ocean passages has been triumphantly conquered by a Bulgarian swimmer.
Petar Stoychev recently undertook the daunting task of crossing the Kaiwi Channel between Molokai and Oahu, reaching the shores of Makapuu after enduring over 18 grueling hours at sea.
His journey was further complicated by stormy weather, presenting even harsher conditions than usual.
Stoychev’s endeavor is part of his quest to achieve a world record in completing the Oceans Seven challenge — a demanding series of seven open water channel swims.
Having successfully completed the leg in Hawaii, he now marks his fourth conquest out of the seven.
