Buns Hawaii is located off East West Road in front of the East West Center. They have been growing their business for the last two years with the help of Steve Sue from the Shaka Project.

Village Bottle Shop and Tasting Room is brewing up an Oktoberfest celebration

The local joint is operated by owners Sean and Jessica LaVau, who donate a percentage of proceeds back to Project Shaka, a share aloha movement by 501C3 Hawai’i nonprofit ID8.

They take extra care in their food making, always reminding themselves of their key approval tests: “Would Tutu have made it that way?” and “Does every bite share love and aloha?”

Owner Jessica LaVau shared their signature caramel macchiato, one of their most popular drinks. It can best be explained as smooth and delicious! KHON2 was also intrigued by other drink offerings from lilikoi lemonade to their six-hour brewed Hibiscus Tea.

As for food, Buns Hawaii is all about the sliders. While they do offer some light snacks and pastries, their pride and joy are their little sandwiches packed with big flavor.

From breakfast buns filled with bacon, eggs and cheese to lemon chicken sliders, there is no wrong selection.

Next time you visit, try their signature Kalua pork slider filled with house BBQ sauce and crispy onions.
