HONOLULU (KHON2) — A 66-year-old man died after the boat he was in capsized in waters off Kapolei on Aug. 9.
The Honolulu Fire Department was first made aware of the distressed man shortly before 8 a.m. According to HFD, the boat had three people on it, including the man.
According to the Honolulu Police Department, the man was found unresponsive in the water.
First responders conducted lifesaving measures on the man before transferring him to the care of Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.
According to EMS, the man was in cardiac arrest following the boat’s capsizing. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, officials said.
HPD said the man later died.
The boat was described as a 15-foot-long boat, according to HFD. Police say that at the time of the capsizing, the boat was in choppy waters with high surf.
