HONOLULU (KHON2) — As Hawaii kicks off Wildfire Awareness Month, Mayor Rick Blangiardi and first responders are encouraging communities to take action on wildfire risks.

In a bid to raise awareness, Mayor Rick Blangiardi, proclaimed Saturday, May 4, as Wildfire Community Preparedness Day, aligning with the national campaign aimed at bolstering community resilience against wildfires.

“Hawaii is not immune to wildfires and we all know the destruction they can cause however, through education and action we can create a safer community and more resilient community,” said Honolulu Fire Department Battalion Chief J.C.
