Coast Guard airlifts injured man from fishing boat off Big Island

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The U.S. Coast Guard airlifted a 51-year-old man off of a fishing boat off the Honokaa coast Monday night after he sustained an abdominal injury.

Authorities were alerted by the captain of the boat after the man fell into a porthole, injuring himself.

The man was transported to the airport in Hilo where he received EMS care and is in stable condition.
