HONOLULU (KHON2) — Loved ones of a former Hawaii woman who went missing nearly 35-years-ago are finally getting some answers.
Constance Holminski Bassignani was last seen alive on Memorial Day in 1989.
She had been living in Rhode Island at the time.
Authorities said her husband told family members that Constance moved back to Hawaii, and that they would not be seeing or hearing from her again.
However, investigators found no evidence that the 65-year-old actually returned
“After her remains were found in Warwick in 1989, she went unidentified until 2024,” said Steve Gagne, First Assistant District Attorney. “When we were finally able to put not just a name but a face and to bring her back to life to some degree and to finally give her family some answers,”
Investigators added Constance’s husband William — who died in 1993 — is a person of interest.
They added their investigation is now more active-and-ongoing than it has been in decades.
